On any day, from the Whitianga self-catering holiday home, you can watch a wide range of sea-going craft come and go. Day boats, kayaks, rowboats, launches, trawlers, ocean-going yachts, charter boats and tour boats. For suitably equipped craft, the more distant islands and coastlines are within easy reach.

Trailer boats can be easily launched from nearby sheltered Flaxmill Bay. Larger craft will find anchorages near Flaxmill Bay and Shakespeare Cliff as well as the Whitianga Harbour Marina. Small craft can also be launched directly from Front Beach, depending on sea conditions

Well-stocked ship's chandleries and boating supply retailers are available at Whitianga coastal township. Diesel, petrol and oil are available at Ferry Landing Store and Whitianga.
