Ferry Landing Wharf, a 5-minute
walk from the holiday home, is a favourite local fishing spot for Snapper,
Kahawai, John Dory etc. And by lamplight, using bought or home-made 'Sabiki' lures made of tiny hooks with
bits of white cotton wool, mackerel.

Above: Aerial shot of Whitianga, showing location
of Front Beach self-catering holiday home. Whitianga's tidal
estuary travels many miles inland, providing sheltered anchorage,
great fishing, marina and a canal system. Sincere thanks
to Whites Aviation for this historic archival image.
Location Whitianga: self-catering holiday home by the beach - in the midst
of one of the finest adventure playgrounds in New Zealand. Accessible
via road, sea and air.
Location is everything - While you're here, you can enjoy a seaside location at its best, at this unique holiday home by the ocean, just a stone's throw from the beach.
Mercury Bay - This holiday home looks out across the Pacific ocean, encompassing that fabulous seascape called Mercury Bay. Dotted with islands and distant headlands, the view offers a peculiar sense of healing to city-weary eyes and psyches.
A healthy place to be - Fresh sea breezes, an ever-changing sea and sky-scape and the proven health benefits of living and relaxing close the the boundary where ocean meets land (often described as an area with a high negative ion count - in other words 'good' ions). A great self-catering combination for the whole family as well as groups, couples, smaller corporate retreats and singles.
Where we are. Geographically, Front Beach faces the Pacific Ocean, on the eastern shoreline of the immensely beautiful Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand's North Island. Access is a comfortable 2 to 3 hour car trip from Auckland - add an hour or so for a bus journey - or approx 35 to 45 minutes by air charter from Auckland International airport to Whitianga airport. Roads are sealed and scenic wilderness views are plentiful on the journey. Good anchorage is available for sea-going travellers.
Front Beach is very handy to the local Ferry Landing and Whitianga township for replenishment of supplies, tourist info, transport, medical services and a variety of interesting activities depending on the time of year you visit. More
