Above: The Front Beach, Whitianga holiday home as it was
some 40 years ago. Even in those days our holidays were an unforgettable adventure
and a fun-filled time. Our growing family led to the eventual extension,
enlargement and complete refurbishing. This was a real NZ bach!
A short trip down Memory Lane: The Front Beach, Whitianga seaside holiday home by the beach...some 40 years
ago.
The good old days when a bach was a bach*. The garden of nature it was then it still is today, in spite of dollar-driven development in parts of this
beautiful
Coromandel Peninsula. And yes, the amount of plastic rubbish left on the beach has increased. Thankfully there are locals and visitors here who
love the place as we do who continue to keep the beach looking unspoiled.
Ocean-washed sand, clean invigorating air. That's what we came for, that's what we got. Ocean-washed sand, clean air, clean water. After a day or two, the city fades into the distance. As everywhere, there are storms here but usually the beach is safe
for swimming, fishing etc.
Right-on-the-beach access, 24 hours a day. Because of its proximity and slight elevation, the view from the holiday home is unobstructed and splendid. There is direct-to-beach access 24/7. Nowadays the holiday home
is substantially larger than it was, with two private self-contained units available to our guests.
A magical place. Over the years, so many visitors have commented about what a magical place this is. We agree. We think that's why folks keep coming back again and again
to relax and enjoy.
* Bach (pronounced baetsch) - Traditional New Zealand holiday home, usually constructed from basic building materials such as corrugated iron, timber and fibrolite.
